Science Technician – Independent School

About the role
We are partnering with a prestigious independent secondary school in Westminster to recruit a Science Technician. You will support high‑achieving students during practical science sessions and assist teachers in delivering engaging lessons.
Key responsibilities
- Prepare and set up laboratory equipment and materials for science lessons.
- Carry out risk assessments and ensure health and safety compliance.
- Maintain stock levels, order supplies, and manage waste disposal.
- Support students directly during practical sessions and occasionally assist in classroom teaching.
- Collaborate with other technicians and teaching staff to ensure smooth operation of the science department.
Required profile
- Recent graduate with a BSc (or equivalent) in a science‑related discipline, awarded with at least a 2:1.
- Experience working in a laboratory environment.
- Experience in an educational setting or working with children is desirable.
- Willingness to undergo an Enhanced DBS check and provide satisfactory references.
Required skills
- Laboratory safety and risk assessment procedures.
- Stock management and waste disposal protocols.
