Section 20 Consultation Officer – Home Ownership (Temporary)

About the role

This temporary, full‑time position supports the Home Ownership team of a leading public‑sector housing client. Working hybrid from a North London office, you will ensure statutory compliance for major works consultation and billing.

Key responsibilities

• Manage the end‑to‑end Section 20 consultation process, maintaining accuracy and statutory timelines.
• Provide advice and guidance to colleagues, residents, leaseholders and stakeholder groups on major works, billing and leaseholder obligations.
• Prepare and issue consultation notices, major works invoices and supporting documentation for First‑Tier Tribunal or court proceedings.
• Maintain accurate manual and electronic records in line with company standards.
• Monitor performance against targets, contribute to service improvements and process development.
• Investigate enquiries, complaints and Member/MP correspondence, delivering clear and timely responses.

Required profile

• Detail‑oriented, customer‑focused individual with experience in a customer‑facing advisory role.
• Strong organisational and administrative abilities with excellent attention to detail.
• Ability to manage competing priorities and meet strict deadlines.
• Proven capability to interpret policy and apply it consistently.
• Confident communicator able to explain complex information and handle challenging conversations.
• Initiative‑driven, capable of working both independently and collaboratively.
• Working knowledge of leasehold legislation, service charges and major works consultation.
