Security Architect

About the role

SiXworks is looking for a Security Architect to design and deliver secure solutions for Defence and National Security missions. You will work across agile teams to ensure that Kubernetes‑based environments, cloud services and internal infrastructure meet strict MOD security standards.

Key responsibilities

• Develop security and cyber‑architecture for internal and MOD projects, including proof‑of‑concept Kubernetes deployments.
• Provide strategic direction for security initiatives and manage risk throughout the project lifecycle.
• Produce evidence and documentation to satisfy MOD regulations such as JSP 440, 453/604 and 892.
• Design mitigation options for identified vulnerabilities and assess security implications of emerging technologies.
• Collaborate with Software Engineering, DevSecOps, Infrastructure, Agile and Cyber Security teams to embed security‑by‑design practices.

Required profile

• Experience designing secure government systems for cloud environments.
• Proficiency in threat modelling using methodologies such as STRIDE.
• Hands‑on work with DevSecOps and Kubernetes security controls.
• Strong written communication skills for reports and design documentation.
• Curiosity, problem‑solving ability and a drive to continuously improve security engineering.
