SEMH Teaching Assistant (1:1 Support)

About the role

We are looking for a resilient and committed SEMH Teaching Assistant to provide one‑to‑one support for pupils with Social, Emotional and Mental Health needs in a welcoming school in Hackney. You will work closely with teachers, counsellors and senior staff to ensure each pupil receives tailored support. The role is full‑time, five days a week, and starts in September.

Key responsibilities

• Deliver personalised 1:1 support to pupils with SEMH needs.
• Implement and maintain effective behaviour management strategies.
• Build positive, trusting relationships with each pupil.
• Collaborate with teachers and support staff to monitor progress.
• Contribute to a safe and inclusive learning environment.

Required profile

• Previous experience supporting children with SEMH needs.
• Strong behaviour management skills.
• Calm, patient and consistent approach.
• Ability to develop positive relationships with pupils.
• Experience in a school or alternative provision setting (desirable).
