SEMH Teaching Assistant – Full‑time, Immediate Start

About the role

We are looking for a patient and resilient SEMH Teaching Assistant to join a specialist provision in Croydon. You will support pupils aged 5‑16 who have social, emotional and mental health needs, working alongside teachers and pastoral staff in a supportive, small‑class environment.

Key responsibilities

• Provide 1:1 and small‑group support to help pupils manage emotions and behaviour.
• Implement and reinforce behaviour strategies and emotional regulation techniques.
• Assist pupils in accessing the curriculum and developing confidence in learning.
• Collaborate with teachers, therapists and support staff to deliver personalised learning programmes.
• Promote positive relationships and a safe, inclusive classroom atmosphere.

Required profile

• Previous experience supporting pupils with SEMH or behavioural needs.
• Ability to build trusting relationships with young people requiring additional support.
• Resilience, patience and a proactive attitude towards pupil wellbeing.
• Willingness to work full‑time on an immediate start basis.
