SEMH Teaching Assistant – Secondary School (Full‑time)

About the role

We are seeking an experienced SEMH Teaching Assistant to join a thriving secondary school in Chesham, Buckinghamshire. The role involves supporting pupils with social, emotional, and mental health needs, both in small groups and one‑to‑one settings.

Key responsibilities

• Work under teacher direction to support students individually and in small groups.
• Adapt learning materials to meet behavioural and emotional needs.
• Promote positive behaviour and manage challenging situations.
• Build trusting relationships with pupils experiencing emotional or behavioural difficulties.
• Provide support inside and outside the classroom to facilitate full engagement.

Required profile

• Experience in a SEMH or Alternative Provision (PRU) setting.
• Level 2/3 Teaching Assistant qualification (ideal).
• Empathetic, patient, and resilient approach.
• Strong behavioural management skills.
• Excellent communication with pupils, staff, and families.
