SEN Learning Support Assistant

About the role

The SEN Learning Support Assistant will work in a Basingstoke school, providing dedicated support to pupils with a range of additional needs. This role is ideal for someone passionate about helping young people overcome barriers to learning and achieve their full potential.

Key responsibilities

• Provide 1:1 support and small‑group interventions for pupils with SEN.
• Support pupils during lessons, activities and daily school routines.
• Assist with emotional regulation and behaviour management strategies.
• Adapt learning activities to meet individual pupil needs.
• Encourage confidence, independence and engagement in learning.
• Work collaboratively with teachers, SENCOs and other support staff.
• Follow safeguarding and school policies consistently.

Required profile

• Experience working with children, young people or vulnerable individuals.
• Patient, supportive and empathetic approach.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to build positive, trusting relationships with pupils.
• Flexible and adaptable to changing needs.
• Reliable team player.
