Learning Support Assistant – Basingstoke

About the role

Prospero Teaching is seeking a proactive Learning Support Assistant to work with pupils in Basingstoke. You will help maintain engagement, confidence and motivation throughout the school day, providing one‑to‑one or small‑group support as needed.

Key responsibilities

• Provide 1:1 support and assist with small‑group learning activities.
• Support pupils during lessons, activities and transitions.
• Help pupils stay focused, engaged and confident in their learning.
• Assist teachers with classroom activities and resources.
• Encourage positive behaviour and learning routines.
• Build strong relationships with pupils and staff.
• Contribute to a safe, inclusive and supportive learning environment.
• Follow safeguarding and school policies consistently.

Required profile

• Experience working with children or young people (preferred but not essential).
• Patient, supportive and approachable manner.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
• Adaptable and able to respond to different pupil needs.
• Reliable and able to work effectively as part of a team.
• Backgrounds in childcare, youth work, coaching or education welcomed.
• Graduates looking to gain school experience are encouraged to apply.
