SEN Teaching Assistant – 1:1 Autism Support (Reception)

About the role

We are looking for a dedicated SEN Teaching Assistant to provide 1:1 support for a Reception pupil with Autism (ASD) in a vibrant mainstream primary school in Kilburn. The role runs from September 2026 to July 2027, offering a rewarding opportunity to help a young child thrive academically and socially.

Key responsibilities

• Provide dedicated 1:1 support for a Reception child with Autism.
• Build a positive, trusting relationship that encourages confidence and independence.
• Support communication, emotional regulation and classroom engagement.
• Work closely with the class teacher and SENCO to deliver tailored learning strategies.
• Adapt activities to meet the child's individual needs while promoting inclusion.
• Monitor progress and celebrate achievements.

Required profile

• At least 1 year of experience supporting children with SEN or complex additional needs.
• Previous experience in a primary school, nursery, tuition, or similar child‑focused setting.
• Patient, nurturing and resilient approach.
• Excellent communication skills and ability to work collaboratively.
• Genuine passion for supporting children with Autism.
