SEN Teaching Assistant – Basingstoke

About the role

Prospero Teaching is seeking a dedicated SEN Teaching Assistant to support pupils with special educational needs in Basingstoke. You will work closely with teachers and support staff to help children with autism, ADHD, learning difficulties and other challenges access the curriculum and develop confidence.

Key responsibilities

• Provide one‑to‑one and small‑group support during lessons and school routines.
• Assist pupils with emotional regulation and behaviour management strategies.
• Adapt learning tasks to meet individual SEN requirements.
• Encourage pupil engagement, independence and confidence.
• Collaborate with teachers, SENCOs and other support staff to create an inclusive environment.
• Follow safeguarding policies and maintain a safe classroom setting.

Required profile

• Experience working with children, young people or vulnerable individuals.
• Patient, supportive and empathetic attitude.
• Strong communication and interpersonal abilities.
• Ability to build trusting relationships with pupils.
• Flexible and responsive to a variety of needs.
• Reliable team player.
