SEND Learning Support Assistant – Teaching Assistant (Daily Rate)

About the role

We are looking for a dedicated SEND Learning Support Assistant to join our team in Lewisham. This full‑time, temporary position supports children with special educational needs and disabilities in a mainstream classroom setting. You will work closely with the lead teacher to create a nurturing and effective learning environment.

Key responsibilities

• Assist the lead teacher in planning and delivering educational activities.
• Support students with their academic and social development, both inside and outside the classroom.
• Tailor instruction to meet the individual needs of each learner.
• Prepare lesson materials, set up equipment, and ensure a safe learning space.
• Monitor student progress and provide feedback to teachers and parents.
• Supervise students during non‑classroom times, including outings and field trips.

Required profile

• Previous experience working with children in an educational setting.
• Strong interpersonal and communication abilities.
• Patience, understanding, and the capacity to manage groups of students.
• Proactive, collaborative approach to working with teachers and staff.
• Willingness to undergo an Enhanced DBS check.

Required skills

• No specific technical skills required; a willingness to complete an Enhanced DBS check is essential.
