SEND Teaching Assistant – Primary Special School (Reading)

This full‑time temporary position supports a highly regarded primary special school in Reading, working with pupils who have social, emotional, mental health and trauma‑related needs. You will join a warm, inclusive team dedicated to making a real difference every day.

Key responsibilities

• Support pupils with SMH needs and trauma backgrounds.
• Create a safe, consistent, and engaging learning environment.
• Build strong, positive relationships that enable children to thrive.
• Assist pupils in regulating emotions, learning and achieving success.

• Ability to work within a specialist primary setting supporting SEN pupils.

Required skills

• Experience or training in supporting pupils with social, emotional, mental health or trauma‑related needs.
• Strong communication and relationship‑building abilities.
