Senior Accountant

About the role

Our client is a forward‑thinking accountancy practice supporting small businesses across South East England. They are looking for an experienced Senior Accountant to manage a portfolio of clients, mentor junior staff and contribute to the firm’s growth.

Key responsibilities

• Prepare, review and submit statutory accounts and tax returns for sole traders, partnerships and limited companies.
• Manage a personal client portfolio, delivering high‑quality service and maintaining strong relationships.
• Review and guide the work of junior team members, providing technical support and mentorship.
• Advise clients on tax planning, cash‑flow forecasting, budgeting, pricing and other business advisory matters.
• Handle bookkeeping, VAT returns and CIS where required, and conduct year‑end client meetings.
• Liaise with HMRC and Companies House to resolve queries and ensure compliance.

Required profile

• Full membership of a recognised professional body (AAT, ATT, ACCA, ACA or equivalent).
• Minimum 5 years’ experience within an accountancy practice.
• Strong knowledge of UK taxation and experience preparing statutory accounts, corporation tax and self‑assessment returns.
