Senior Accountant – Manufacturing Finance

About the role

This senior accountant position sits within the finance team of a global manufacturing and supply organisation based in Edinburgh. The role combines month‑end accounting, balance‑sheet management and manufacturing cost reporting to support commercial decision‑making.

Key responsibilities

• Prepare and review month‑end accounting entries, including accruals, pre‑payments and other P&L transactions.
• Maintain balance‑sheet reconciliations to ensure accuracy and regulatory compliance.
• Manage manufacturing accounting activities such as work‑in‑progress reporting and product costing.
• Produce monthly management information, budget comparisons, sales analysis, cost reporting and workforce metrics.
• Monitor accounts payable activity and collaborate with shared‑service teams.
• Perform bank reconciliations and support cash‑management processes.
• Assist with corporate reporting requirements on a monthly, quarterly and annual basis.
• Support internal and external audit activities by providing required information and analysis.
• Track departmental expenditure and functional costs.
• Provide finance‑function support during peak periods and annual leave.
• Contribute to finance transformation initiatives and ad‑hoc projects.

Required profile

• Part‑qualified, newly qualified or qualified accountant (ACA, ACCA, CIMA or equivalent).
• Experience in management accounting and costing, preferably within manufacturing, pharmaceutical, life‑sciences or FMCG environments.
• Experience in a large multinational organisation is highly desirable.
• Strong analytical mindset, attention to detail and ability to devise practical solutions.

Required skills

• Advanced Excel proficiency.
• Experience using ERP accounting systems.
• Good understanding of UK VAT requirements.
