Senior Accountant - Preston

About the role

Accountancy Elite is recruiting a Senior Accountant in Preston, Lancashire, for a client whose team is described as thriving. The role suits someone with about 3 years' experience in UK practice who is ACA qualified or in the final stages of completion. The advertised salary is up to £50,000 depending on experience.

Key responsibilities

• Prepare and review annual accounts for businesses and charities of all sizes
• Lead audit assignments, including supervising junior auditors and semi-seniors
• Prepare management accounts at monthly or quarterly intervals for growing clients
• Prepare complex VAT returns using the various schemes available
• Prepare corporation tax and income tax computations and returns
• Manage, train and support junior staff, giving feedback
• Promote the firm's services, including representing it at business networking events
• Contribute actively to a professional working environment

Required profile

• ACA qualified (or equivalent)
• At least 3 years' experience in an accountancy practice
• 5 GCSEs at grades 4-9 (or equivalent), including grade 6 or above in Maths and English
• Ability to work independently with minimum supervision, as part of a team and to supervise junior staff
• Excellent communication, organisational and time-management skills

Required skills

• Excellent computer skills, including Microsoft Office
• Xero, QuickBooks and practice accounting software (ideally Digita)
