Senior Underwriter - Bloodstock and Equine Insurance

About the role

DUAL, a specialist underwriting group founded in 1998 and part of Howden Group Holdings, is looking for a Senior Underwriter in London. The role sits in one of the world's leading bloodstock and equine insurers and works towards leading a team of experienced industry professionals. You will deal with Lloyd's brokers, direct clients, other insurers and cover holders worldwide, quote accounts for all classes of equine and bloodstock business and administer ongoing policies. The position is full time and based in London.

Key responsibilities

• Apply your skills, knowledge and technical expertise to the benefit of DUAL/Ashby Underwriting.
• Train and develop other team members on market trends and keep up to date with changes in case law and legislation worldwide.
• Take part in professional, technical and development training delivered internally and externally, and provide relevant training to clients and customers when required.
• Share ideas, best practice and information with the team, and issue up-to-date articles on bloodstock and equine insurance.
• Build and strengthen relationships with business partners, policyholders and service providers to drive performance.
• Ensure the service provided to clients meets the highest technical standard.

Required profile

• Significant experience in the insurance industry, including policy work and preparation, basic accounts, claims, insurance underwriting/broking and direct client liaison.
• Strong product awareness and significant experience underwriting the specific class(es) for which you are responsible.
• Ability to work efficiently and methodically, and to communicate effectively with internal and external parties.

Required skills

• Technical knowledge of FCA rules, current case law and legislation affecting customers and intermediaries.
• High-level interpersonal skills and broad awareness of insurance industry matters relevant to the role.
