Senior Accounts Payable Specialist

About the role

A leading aviation organisation is seeking a Senior Accounts Payable Specialist to join its finance team at Manchester Airport. You will work in a supportive, inclusive environment handling complex queries and processes across multiple business units.

Key responsibilities

• Manage escalated accounts payable queries promptly, ensuring alignment with internal policies and service standards.
• Run regular payment cycles and financial reports for several business units while maintaining accuracy and compliance.
• Participate in vendor and stakeholder meetings to foster positive relationships and resolve payment issues.
• Resolve returned payments and debit balances, keeping ledgers up‑to‑date.
• Process complex invoices in line with company procedures and regulatory requirements.
• Conduct statement reconciliations for key vendors, addressing discrepancies swiftly.
• Assist internal and external audit teams by providing accurate documentation.
• Maintain master data in SAP systems, ensuring information is current and reliable.

Required profile

• Significant experience in accounts payable roles within complex, multi‑stakeholder environments.
• Proven ability to handle escalated queries while delivering high customer‑service standards.
• Experience with SAP systems, preferably S/4HANA.
• Familiarity with Construction Industry Scheme (CIS) processes and travel & expenses procedures is advantageous.
• Strong interpersonal and organisational skills to manage multiple tasks without compromising accuracy.
