Senior Analyst Developer – AI Lead

About the role

As a Senior Analyst Developer – AI Lead at USS, you will shape the AI architecture for the Investment Organisation, ensuring new AI solutions are secure, scalable and aligned with strategic goals. Working within the AI Incubator working group, you will bridge innovative AI research with operational delivery across the pension scheme.

Key responsibilities

• Define AI architecture principles, standards and reference patterns to guide solution design.
• Design end‑to‑end AI solutions covering data ingestion, model development, deployment and integration with existing platforms.
• Validate solution designs against enterprise architecture and provide assurance to governance boards.
• Embed AI governance, risk and compliance controls, including security and ethical standards.
• Lead prototyping and technical feasibility assessments for emerging AI technologies.
• Monitor AI trends and advise on platforms such as Azure AI, Copilot Fabric and Snowflake.
• Collaborate with technical, data, platform and infrastructure architects to align AI initiatives with organisational strategy.
• Provide technical leadership and guidance to project teams throughout delivery.

Required profile

• Proven experience designing and governing AI solutions in a large, regulated environment.
• Strong understanding of AI risk, security and ethical considerations.
• Ability to translate innovative concepts into practical, scalable architectures.
• Excellent communication skills to influence stakeholders and governance bodies.
