Senior Application Architect (Java with AWS)

About the role

LSEG (London Stock Exchange Group) is hiring a Senior Application Architect (Java with AWS) in Nottingham to work with the Solution Architect of World-Check One - Risk Engineering. You will be responsible for the development of critical financial services such as World-Check One, Screening and Due Diligence, and will lead a team of engineers in designing software solutions from the ground up.

Key responsibilities

• Build logical, physical, implementation and process solution architecture designs, including cloud infrastructure design and detailed application architecture
• Optimise cloud costs by identifying waste and automating cost management and autoscaling
• Support the DevOps team with CI/CD automation and help application teams negotiate governance, privacy, compliance and risk gates
• Lead production issue root cause analysis and resolution
• Work with Product Owners and Business Analysts on solution concepts, cost and timescales
• Own and lead quality of service requirements: availability, recovery, reusability, performance, maintainability, security, capacity and compatibility
• Produce domain and business logic models, interoperability (API and messaging) and data model designs, and pair designs with other architects and technical leads
• Produce proof of concepts, contribute to architecture communities of practice, and lead the development of architectural standards
• Develop and deliver technical training, presentations and white papers, and interpret technical issues for non-technical audiences

Required profile

• Significant experience as a software engineer and demonstrated technical expertise and leadership
• Consistent track record of delivering application and cloud solution architectures
• Ability to present to senior leadership, work with externally sourced engineers and influence vendors and technology staff
• Awareness of GDPR and ISO standards

Required skills

• Extensive AWS experience and cloud-native architecture
• Very strong Java skills, with Python, Spring Boot, Node.js and JavaScript
• HTTP and REST API design, and enterprise integration patterns
• Authentication methods such as SAML, OIDC or OAuth 2
• Databases: MySQL, PostgreSQL, MongoDB, Elasticsearch
• Desired: risk management, financial markets and banking domain knowledge
