Senior Associate / Legal Director – Residential Real Estate

About the role

Birketts LLP is seeking a Senior Associate / Legal Director to join its Residential Real Estate team in Sevenoaks. You will work on a broad range of residential property matters, supporting both routine conveyancing and complex high‑value transactions while contributing to the strategic growth of the practice.

Key responsibilities

• Act for clients on residential real estate transactions, including purchase, sale and financing of freehold and leasehold properties.
• Handle both routine conveyancing and high‑value, complex deals across the UK.
• Develop and maintain relationships with local agents, high‑end property finders and estate agents.
• Provide technical support to the team, overseeing and training junior lawyers as required.
• Lead business development activities, networking events and sector‑focused marketing initiatives.
• Contribute to the firm’s strategic direction and ESG objectives.

Required profile

• Qualified solicitor with several years of experience in residential real estate law.
• Proven ability to manage complex transactions and advise a diverse client base.
• Strong client‑relationship skills and a collaborative, team‑oriented approach.
• Commitment to mentoring junior team members and fostering a supportive environment.

Required skills

• In‑depth knowledge of UK residential property law, conveyancing and financing structures.
• Experience with high‑value property transactions and leasehold/freehold matters.
• Ability to provide technical legal advice and oversee junior staff work.
