Senior Auditor – Internal Audit (Europe)

About the role

Brookfield is seeking a Senior Auditor to join its Internal Audit team, focusing on the European portfolio of companies across real estate, energy, infrastructure, private equity, and insurance platforms. Reporting to the Director of Internal Audit, you will lead audit and advisory engagements, ensuring rigorous risk assessment and compliance with IIA methodology.

Key responsibilities

• Plan, execute, and supervise internal audit and advisory engagements across European portfolio companies.
• Draft clear workpapers, findings, and audit reports that communicate risk impact and recommendations.
• Conduct follow‑up procedures to evaluate the effectiveness of implemented recommendations.
• Research key risks, regulations, and develop planning materials for senior management and C‑suite audiences.
• Adopt a commercial mindset to align audit outcomes with Brookfield’s strategic goals.
• Assist the Director in managing audit teams, coordinating risk assessments, and onboarding new portfolio audit teams.
• Provide oversight to third‑party assurance providers, manage timelines, and report remediation progress.
• Keep regional and global IA teams informed about audit plan progress and findings.

Required profile

• Significant experience in internal audit or related risk‑management functions.
• Strong analytical and critical‑thinking abilities with a risk‑first approach.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills, capable of presenting to senior leadership and C‑suite executives.
• Commercial orientation and ability to influence audit outcomes toward strategic objectives.
• Proven ability to lead and coordinate audit teams across multiple jurisdictions.

Required skills

• Knowledge of IIA (Institute of Internal Auditors) methodology.
