Senior Bid Writer & Bid Manager

About the role

Avencera is seeking a Senior Bid Writer & Bid Manager to lead the development and delivery of winning bids for UK public‑sector contracts. Working closely with the Growth Director and market teams, you will shape bid strategy, create compelling win themes and embed a best‑in‑class bidding capability across the business.

Key responsibilities

• Take ownership of the end‑to‑end bid process, from opportunity qualification to final submission, ensuring governance, disciplined planning and high‑quality outputs.
• Interpret procurement documents and evaluation criteria, translating them into clear response strategies, compliance matrices and delivery plans.
• Write, edit and quality‑assure persuasive, evidence‑led proposals that align with buyer needs and scoring criteria.
• Lead and coordinate contributors throughout the bid lifecycle, managing deadlines, dependencies and momentum under pressure.
• Develop and maintain a reusable library of content, case studies and standard responses, and capture lessons learned to improve future submissions.
• Support business development and capture activities by providing bid expertise for pursuit planning, opportunity qualification and bid/no‑bid recommendations.

Required profile

• Proven track record of writing successful bids for UK public‑sector contracts and strong knowledge of public‑sector procurement.
• Excellent writing, editing and communication skills combined with commercial awareness and strategic thinking.
• Experience managing complex bids with multiple contributors, preferably within a management consultancy, major government supplier or professional services organisation.
• Ability to influence senior stakeholders, challenge content constructively and maintain a relentless focus on quality and continuous improvement.

What we offer

• Basic salary of £70,000‑£80,000 per annum, dependent on expertise.
• Up to 20% performance‑based bonus.
