Senior Building Surveyor – Major Claims (MCL)

About the role

We are seeking an experienced Senior Building Surveyor to manage major loss (MCL) claims across Scotland and the North East of England. You will lead the assessment and resolution of complex residential and commercial property damage, providing expert technical advice to insurers and high‑net‑worth clients.

Key responsibilities

• Conduct site inspections of damaged properties and produce detailed damage assessments.
• Project‑manage reinstatement works, ensuring quality, cost control and timely delivery.
• Prepare comprehensive reports, specifications, tender documents and contract administration paperwork.
• Manage multiple major loss claims while meeting service level agreements and company standards.
• Build and maintain trusted relationships with policyholders, insurers, loss adjusters, brokers and contractors.
• Provide regular updates and clear communication throughout the claims process.
• Ensure compliance with company procedures, client requirements and industry regulations.
• Identify opportunities to enhance outcomes through wider Davies Group services.

Required profile

• Relevant technical or loss‑adjusting experience in major loss surveying.
• Degree in Building Surveying (BSc Hons) or equivalent.
• Professional membership such as MCIOB or MRICS is desirable but not essential.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Excellent customer‑service orientation and organisational ability.
