Senior Claims Adjuster – Casualty (Lloyd's Syndicate)

About the role

We are partnering with a leading Lloyd’s syndicate in the City of London to hire a Senior Claims Adjuster for its Casualty division. The role will manage complex casualty losses across the UK, US and other international jurisdictions, providing leadership on primary and excess claims.

Key responsibilities

• Proactively manage a diverse portfolio of casualty claims from first notification through settlement, investigating coverage, liability and quantum while setting and reviewing reserves.
• Maintain compliance with delegated authority levels, reserving philosophies and handling standards, escalating matters when required.
• Collaborate with policyholders, brokers, co‑insurers, actuaries, underwriters and other stakeholders throughout the claims process.
• Instruct, manage and oversee external legal counsel, loss adjusters and third‑party administrators, providing technical guidance and exercising financial authority.
• Ensure accurate, comprehensive claim files and high standards of documentation.
• Deliver a professional, customer‑focused service in line with organisational values, codes of conduct and regulatory requirements.
• Support senior leadership with internal audit activities, management information and reporting.
• Contribute to claims strategy and business initiatives by identifying improvement opportunities and supporting underwriting objectives.

Required profile

• Proven experience as a claims adjuster handling complex casualty (EL/PL/GL/Environmental) losses in the UK, US and other jurisdictions.
• Strong background in primary and excess claim handling, with exposure to US rail and heavy‑excess lines (preferred but not essential).
• Demonstrated ability to lead investigations, set reserves and develop claim strategies.
• Experience working with Lloyd’s syndicates or similar insurance markets is advantageous.
• Ability to collaborate with a wide range of stakeholders including policyholders, brokers, underwriters, actuaries and legal counsel.
• Solid understanding of compliance, delegated authority and claims handling standards.
• Senior‑level professional capable of supporting leadership and contributing to business development.
