Senior Communications Officer – Communications & Engagement

About the role

This permanent, full‑time position offers an experienced communications professional the chance to shape integrated communication strategies for NHS Greater Glasgow and Clyde, supporting health services for over 1.3 million people.

Key responsibilities

• Design, develop and implement integrated communications strategies and campaigns for key service areas.
• Deliver internal and external communications, including traditional and social media marketing, advertising campaigns and digital content.
• Create and manage web and other digital content to promote NHS initiatives.
• Build and maintain strong media relations with Scottish media, securing proactive positive coverage.
• Provide out‑of‑hours media cover on a rotational basis (one‑in‑five).

Required profile

• Relevant degree in journalism, public relations, media communications or equivalent experience.
• Significant experience in a media, communications or PR role, preferably within a public‑sector environment.
• Excellent written communication skills and the ability to work quickly and prioritize tasks.
• Creative, confident and motivated with a strong understanding of media influence.
