Senior Communications Officer (Hybrid)

About the role

Thrive at Five is seeking a Senior Communications Officer to join its Communications team in Stoke‑On‑Trent. The role is hybrid, with at least one day per week on site, and may involve occasional travel to other programme locations and the London office. You will help shape the charity’s narrative, showcase impact and strengthen engagement with families, partners and stakeholders.

Key responsibilities

• Identify and develop communication opportunities that support programme delivery and parent outreach.
• Design and implement a local stakeholder engagement strategy aligned with organisational objectives.
• Produce audience‑focused content for newsletters, case studies, promotional materials and other channels.
• Collaborate with the Head of Communications, programme leads and cross‑functional teams to ensure consistent messaging.
• Support effective communication across sectors such as community, health, education and local organisations.

Required profile

• Significant experience in a communications role, including copywriting and content creation.
• Proven ability to create clear, compelling, audience‑appropriate content for multiple platforms.
• Understanding of the local community’s strengths, needs and challenges.
• Strong storytelling skills to demonstrate impact and inspire collaboration.

Required skills

• Proficiency with Adobe Creative Suite – Illustrator, InDesign, Photoshop or Canva.
