About the role
Top tier US law firm with ultra‑modern offices in the City is seeking an exceptional Senior Compliance Manager to support its UK and European compliance function. The role will play a key part in regulatory compliance, risk management, policy development, training and regulatory engagement, helping to foster a strong culture of compliance across the firm.
Key responsibilities
- Support the firm’s Compliance function, including senior leadership, on all compliance, risk management and regulatory matters, driving continuous improvement of systems, controls and processes.
- Develop, implement and maintain the firm’s compliance policies, procedures and risk‑management framework in line with regulatory requirements and best practice.
- Act as the primary point of contact for regulatory bodies, handling investigations, information requests, data‑protection enquiries and Subject Access Requests.
- Monitor regulatory and market developments, ensuring attorneys and staff remain informed of relevant changes and compliance obligations.
- Conduct compliance audits and risk assessments, identify key risks, recommend improvements and oversee remediation.
- Deliver and coordinate compliance training, promoting a strong culture of regulatory compliance across the firm.
- Maintain systems for recording, investigating and reporting breaches, near‑misses and client complaints, ensuring appropriate escalation to regulators where required.
- Maintain expert knowledge of relevant legislation and regulatory requirements, benchmark the firm’s compliance framework against market best practice and maintain the London office engagement letter.
Required profile
- Law‑firm experience in a similar compliance role.
- Good knowledge of SRA Standards and Regulations, AML rules and procedures, data‑protection legislation and KYC processes.
- Maintains the highest professional standards to ensure the firm is not in a position of risk.
- Ability to work collaboratively with partners and the management team to resolve client conflicts and ensure acceptable outcomes.
- Good IT skills and knowledge are essential.
