Senior Data Advisor (R Scripts, Survey Data) - Fully Remote

About the role

Great Place to Work UK is hiring a Senior Data Advisor for a fully remote, three-month contract with a potential extension. The role is a Tier 3 senior expert position reporting to the Head of Business Intelligence and Revenue Operations, and is designed to be a hands-on technical authority who can own the most complex data work from day one. Standard hours are 9:00am to 5:30pm (37.5 hours per week).

Key responsibilities

• Take full, independent ownership of the R scripts underpinning critical products, reporting and analytical insight, hardening and improving them to an expert standard.
• Lead the redesign and enhancement of complex templates, R scripts and analytical processes, making authoritative technical decisions.
• Own the most sensitive and complex client data queries end to end, resolving them with expert judgement.
• Act as the senior escalation point for data issues, owning root-cause analysis and risk mitigation and reducing the load on the Head of Business Intelligence.
• Set and enforce a high bar for data quality across reporting and delivery, designing the checks and controls that keep outputs accurate and defensible.
• Own the data preparation and validation for Best Workplaces list activity, ensuring submissions to the Growth & Recognition team are complete, accurate and evidence-ready.
• Be the senior technical authority Customer Success Managers turn to for the hardest delivery and data challenges.
• Where the contract allows, coach colleagues on complex data processes and leave behind cleaner, better-documented ways of working.

Required profile

• At least 5 years leading complex, business-critical data projects with full accountability for quality, timelines and outcomes, able to deliver from day one with no ramp-up.
• Proven ability to run multiple complex, high-pressure workstreams at once and to make high-stakes technical judgement calls without oversight.
• Confident communicator with senior stakeholders, able to explain complex data issues plainly and hold their own with Heads of departments and client-facing teams.

Required skills

• Expert-level analysis of survey data using advanced statistical techniques such as segmentation, PCA and KDA.
• Deep mastery of R, with 5+ years at a senior or lead level building, hardening and optimising production-grade scripts and workflows; Shiny (R) experience is a strong advantage.
• Desirable: data warehousing or data engineering experience, including cloud-based warehouses and R scripts in an online environment; SQL and Azure experience is highly desirable.
