Senior Dental Officer – Dunvegan & Kyle of Lochalsh

About the role

The NHS Highland Public Dental Service is seeking a full‑time Senior Dental Officer to work across its Dunvegan and Kyle of Lochalsh clinics. You will deliver the full range of General Dental Services to patients who cannot access NHS dentistry through private practitioners.

Key responsibilities

• Provide comprehensive General Dental Services, including care for anxious and priority‑group patients.
• Oversee and coordinate quality‑improvement and audit activities for dentists across the NHS Highland Dental Service.
• Manage appraisal processes for all Public Dental Service clinicians.
• Deliver inhalation sedation where appropriate (desirable).

Required profile

• Clinical experience treating priority‑group and routine dental patients.
• GDC registration as a dentist and successful listing with the Health Board.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to handle challenging patient behaviours.
• Driving licence (desirable).

What we offer

• Permanent contract, 37.5 hours per week.
• Salary Band B: £87,337 – £102,153 (pro‑rata, 2026‑2027 rates).
• Eligibility for remote and rural allowance.
