Senior Dental Officer – Priority & Vulnerable Care

About the role

The Senior Dental Officer will lead the delivery of priority and vulnerable group dental services within the Public Dental Service (PDS) for NHS Greater Glasgow and Clyde. Working across Royal Alexandra Hospital and Greenock Health Centre, you will manage complex cases using sedation and general anaesthetic in both fixed and mobile clinics.

Key responsibilities

• Provide clinical treatment for priority and vulnerable patients, including sedation and general anaesthetic procedures.
• Lead and mentor dental teams across multiple sites, ensuring high‑quality care.
• Collaborate with the Complex Needs Team, Glasgow University, secondary‑care dental colleagues and Oral Health Improvement Teams.
• Participate in out‑of‑hours service provision as required.
• Support flexible and part‑time working arrangements while maintaining service standards.

Required profile

• Registered dentist with the General Dental Council (GDC).
• Experience treating complex, vulnerable or medically compromised patients.
• Ability to work in multidisciplinary teams and provide clinical leadership.
• Willingness to engage with partners across the health and academic sectors.
