Senior Design Engineer

About the role

Join a market‑leading engineering business that designs and manufactures mobile recycling machinery. As a Senior Design Engineer you will lead the creation of new products and the continuous improvement of existing equipment, working closely with the Lead Engineer to deliver high‑quality solutions on time.

Key responsibilities

• Design and develop new mobile recycling machines and enhance existing machinery.
• Apply engineering best practices such as QFD, FMEA, design for manufacture, prototyping and testing.
• Ensure all designs comply with safety, performance and reliability standards.
• Manage engineering data according to global standards and PDM systems.
• Identify cost‑reduction opportunities through design optimisation and supplier collaboration.
• Investigate and resolve customer complaints promptly.
• Stay informed on industry trends, competitor activity and emerging technologies.

Required profile

• Degree in Engineering or equivalent practical experience.
• Proven design experience with mobile or tracked equipment, preferably in recycling machinery.
• Strong communication, presentation and interpersonal abilities.
• Proactive, collaborative attitude with the ability to manage workload and meet deadlines.

Required skills

• Advanced 3D CAD proficiency (CREO preferred).
• Experience with Product Data Management (PDM) systems.
• Solid understanding of mechanical and hydraulic systems.
• Familiarity with Oracle TMS (advantageous).
