Senior Ecologist – Remote

About the role

Join a well‑established, fully remote ecological consultancy as a Senior Ecologist. You will lead ecological work across a diverse portfolio of projects, from small private developments to large‑scale infrastructure and housing schemes, while mentoring junior team members.

Key responsibilities

• Mentor and manage junior ecologists.
• Lead ecological surveys and assessments (e.g., UKHab, protected species, EcIA).
• Provide ecological advice to internal teams and external clients.
• Manage projects, produce technical reports and ecological management plans.
• Liaise with stakeholders and regulatory bodies.
• Ensure compliance with relevant legislation and best practice.

Required profile

• Minimum 5 years' experience in ecological consultancy.
• At least one protected species licence.
• Full membership of a relevant professional body (e.g., CIEEM – desirable).
• Strong experience in habitat and protected‑species surveys (PEA, UKHab, BNG, bats, badger, water vole, etc.).
• Excellent communication and report‑writing skills.
• Experience preparing fee proposals and risk assessments.
• Ability to manage and analyse ecological data.
• Full UK driving licence and access to a vehicle.
