Senior Electrical Design Engineer - Communication Systems

About the role

Babcock is looking for a Senior Electrical Engineer (Communication Systems) to join the Devonport Royal Dockyard team. You will act as the System Steward for a portfolio of communication systems, giving strategic oversight across the asset lifecycle. The role is full time and permanent, 35 hours per week, with hybrid working at a minimum of two days per week on site.

Key responsibilities

• Maintain knowledge of the capability, performance and operational requirements of critical communication systems
• Develop lifecycle strategies, reference designs and asset management plans
• Monitor asset health, resilience and obsolescence risks and identify future investment opportunities
• Provide engineering advice to support technical and business decisions
• Engage with stakeholders, project teams and suppliers and support the integration of communication network infrastructure into the portfolio

Required profile

• Degree in Electrical, Electronic, Communications or Systems Engineering, or a Higher National Certificate/Diploma with significant relevant experience
• Experience in communication systems, electrical/electronic or systems engineering, or a related discipline
• Experience supporting or managing complex engineering assets in an operational environment
• Understanding of asset stewardship, lifecycle management and critical infrastructure challenges
• Ability to identify and manage technical risks, obsolescence and future capability needs
• Security Check (SC) clearance achievable and maintained
