Senior Electrical Project Engineer

About the role

1st Step Solutions is supporting a major engineering contractor looking for a Senior Electrical Project Engineer to join its London team. The postholder acts as the lead electrical engineer on the project, providing technical leadership, coordination and assurance across all electrical engineering activities from design development and procurement through installation, testing, commissioning and handover. The role supports the delivery of complex construction projects and works closely with project managers, construction teams, design consultants, specialist subcontractors, suppliers and internal technical management.

Key responsibilities

• Lead electrical design coordination and resolve technical queries
• Manage electrical procurement, material take-offs and technical submittals
• Review and approve shop drawings, method statements and material submissions
• Plan and monitor electrical installation works, resources and programme
• Oversee site installations, quality, productivity and compliance
• Lead BIM coordination, clash resolution and as-built documentation
• Ensure health and safety compliance, including RAMS and site procedures
• Manage QA/QC, inspections, ITPs and non-conformance close-out
• Coordinate electrical testing, commissioning, FATs and integrated systems testing
• Support commercial management, variations and technical risk assessments
• Provide technical leadership and mentor junior engineers

Required profile

• HNC/HND in Electrical or Building Services Engineering
• CSCS and SMSTS, or equivalent site safety qualification
• Relevant experience in electrical building services and construction projects
• Strong knowledge of electrical installation, quality, safety and commissioning
• Desirable: degree in Electrical or Building Services Engineering, BIM coordination experience, IEng or CEng registration or working towards it
