Senior Engineer – Civil Structures

About the role

Robert Bird Group is seeking a Senior Engineer to lead civil and structural design on a variety of infrastructure projects, including rail, highways, energy and multidisciplinary schemes. The role involves early‑stage design, coordination with multiple disciplines, and support for inspection and strengthening of existing assets.

Key responsibilities

• Develop concept and detailed designs for bridges, stations and heavy civil works.
• Coordinate design efforts across structural, civil, geotechnical and construction engineering teams.
• Produce design calculations, drawings and specifications in line with client and regulatory requirements.
• Support inspection, strengthening and replacement design of existing infrastructure, liaising with stakeholders such as Network Rail and TfL.
• Ensure design solutions are buildable, cost‑effective and meet sustainability targets.

Required profile

• Qualified civil or structural engineer with several years of experience in infrastructure design.
• Proven ability to work on complex, multidisciplinary projects.
• Strong communication skills for stakeholder engagement.
