Senior Environmental Consultant

About the role

Penguin Recruitment is supporting a leading multidisciplinary consultancy in Scotland with a senior position in their environmental team. The Senior Environmental Consultant will work on a varied portfolio of projects across sectors such as energy, water, defence, transport and the public realm, delivering high‑quality environmental assessments and reports.

Key responsibilities

• Support coordination and delivery of environmental projects across multidisciplinary teams.
• Assist with Environmental Impact Assessments (EIA), consenting projects and environmental management.
• Contribute to options appraisals and the delivery of environmental assessments.
• Collate, analyse and edit information from technical sources to produce high‑quality reports.
• Manage own workload to ensure timely, on‑budget delivery.
• Support senior colleagues with bid preparation and project management.
• Collaborate closely with environmental, engineering and other technical specialists.
• Develop experience across diverse projects and sectors, with opportunities across the UK, Ireland and internationally.

Required profile

• Degree or Master’s qualification in an environmental or relevant scientific discipline.
• Experience working on EIA and consenting projects.
• Good understanding of the EIA process and related technical disciplines.
• Chartered status or working towards chartership with IEMA, IES or similar body.
• Strong report writing and communication skills.
• Excellent organisational and time‑management abilities.
• Ability to manage competing priorities and work effectively under pressure.
• Flexible, adaptable approach with a genuine interest in sustainable outcomes.
