Senior Finance Officer – Housing Association

About the role

We are looking for an experienced Senior Finance Officer to join a growing housing association. Reporting to the Financial Controller, you will manage day‑to‑day finance operations while leading a small team of Finance Assistants.

Key responsibilities

• Supervise accounts payable, accounts receivable and rent ledger processes.
• Lead bank reconciliations, monthly cashbooks and nominal ledger maintenance.
• Oversee sales and purchase ledger processing, payment runs and query resolution.
• Manage rent collection activities and ensure timely reconciliations.
• Support fixed‑asset register maintenance and broader finance operations.
• Provide leadership, target setting and coaching to Finance Assistants.
• Assist with board papers, financial controls and regulatory compliance.
• Identify and implement improvements to finance processes.

Required profile

• Qualified by experience or part‑qualified accountant.
• Proven experience in a busy finance or accounting environment.
• Strong bank reconciliation, cashbook and ledger management skills.
• Previous supervisory or team‑leadership experience.
• Experience using accounting systems and finance software.
• Excellent organisational ability and attention to detail.
