Senior Geo-environmental Consultant

About the role

We are seeking an experienced Senior Geo‑environmental Consultant to join a leading environmental and engineering consultancy in Manchester. You will manage complex contaminated‑land investigations, deliver technical guidance to clients, and mentor junior team members across a diverse portfolio of projects.

Key responsibilities

• Lead geo‑environmental and contaminated‑land projects from inception to completion.
• Plan, supervise, and coordinate intrusive site investigations.
• Conduct contaminated‑land risk assessments and develop remediation strategies.
• Prepare Phase 1 Desk Studies, Phase 2 Site Investigation Reports, and technical interpretation reports.
• Liaise with clients, contractors, regulators, and multidisciplinary teams.
• Mentor junior consultants and engineers.
• Manage project budgets, programmes, and resource allocation.
• Ensure compliance with environmental legislation and health‑and‑safety standards.
• Support business development and client relationship management.

Required profile

• Degree qualified in Environmental Science, Geology, Engineering Geology, Geo‑environmental Engineering or a related discipline.
• Proven experience as a Senior Geo‑environmental Consultant or in a comparable role.
• Strong knowledge of UK contaminated‑land legislation and regulatory frameworks.
• Demonstrated ability to manage site investigations and risk assessments.
• Excellent report‑writing and technical interpretation abilities.
