Senior Geo‑Environmental Engineer

About the role

The Senior Geo‑Environmental Engineer will lead the delivery of contaminated land and geo‑environmental services for a variety of development and infrastructure projects in London. You will combine high‑quality technical delivery with project management, client engagement and mentoring, supporting the firm’s reputation for trusted, commercially focused advice.

Key responsibilities

• Lead Phase 1 Desk Studies, Preliminary Risk Assessments (PRA) and Phase 2 ground investigations.
• Develop and refine Conceptual Site Models (CSMs) using source‑pathway‑receptor frameworks.
• Perform and review qualitative and quantitative risk assessments, including CLEA, GQRA and DQRA where appropriate.
• Design, specify and manage intrusive ground investigations, supervising contractors.
• Interpret soil, groundwater and ground‑gas data and produce clear, proportionate reports.
• Contribute to remediation option appraisals, strategies and verification reporting.
• Manage multiple geo‑environmental commissions, ensuring delivery to programme, budget and quality expectations.
• Coordinate multidisciplinary inputs (geotechnical, structural, sustainability) and external specialist contributions.

Required profile

• Extensive experience in geo‑environmental engineering, contaminated land assessment and ground investigations.
• Proven ability to lead technical teams and mentor junior staff.
• Strong commercial awareness and client‑facing skills.
• Excellent written and verbal communication, with the ability to produce clear technical reports.
