Senior Health Care Support Worker – Community

About the role

NHS Lanarkshire is recruiting a Senior Health Care Support Worker for its community services. The post holder delivers high-quality care following guidance and delegation from registered nurses, using a person-centred approach that is safe and effective. The role covers a population of 655,000 across rural and urban communities in North and South Lanarkshire.

Key responsibilities

• Assist in delivering high-quality care to meet patient needs.
• Support patients, relatives and carers to achieve optimal health and person-centred outcomes.
• Assist clinicians in a variety of clinical settings as required.
• After appropriate training, carry out delegated tasks such as blood pressure measurement and phlebotomy.

Required profile

• SVQ III in healthcare, or working towards it, or equivalent experience in a caring environment or role.
• Ability to work with people and as part of a multidisciplinary or agency team.
• Effective written and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to carry out patient care tasks effectively in a busy environment.
• A full UK/EU/EEA driving licence is required.

Required skills

• Working knowledge of basic information technology.
• Delegated clinical tasks such as blood pressure measurement and phlebotomy.
