Senior Health Care Support Worker (Internal Candidates Only)

About the role

This internal posting is for a Senior Health Care Support Worker on Ward 1 of Ayrshire Central Hospital. The role involves delivering person‑centred care to older adults undergoing rehabilitation, working within a multidisciplinary team on a rotational shift pattern.

Key responsibilities

• Provide therapeutic interventions and support to achieve rehabilitation goals for patients on a 30‑bed older adult ward.
• Collaborate with nurses, therapists and other professionals to deliver safe, caring and respectful care.
• Maintain accurate patient records and communicate effectively with the team.
• Participate in ward meetings and contribute to continuous improvement of care processes.

Required profile

• SVQ Level 3 in a healthcare‑related subject or equivalent experience.
• Experience working as part of a multidisciplinary team.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Awareness of relevant legislation, policies and best‑practice guidelines.
• Willingness to undertake further training and personal development.
• Valid UK driving licence (essential).

What we offer

• Permanent or fixed‑term contract with two possible weekly hour options (34.5 hrs or 23 hrs).
• Rotational day and night shifts with weekend commitment.
• Future reduction of full‑time hours to 36 hrs without loss of earnings (from April 2026).
