Senior Housing Lawyer (Hybrid)

About the role

We are seeking an experienced Senior Housing Lawyer to join a busy London Borough Council legal team. The role is hybrid, requiring two days per week in the office, and offers the chance to manage a team while handling complex disrepair and statutory nuisance cases.

Key responsibilities

• Assist the Principal Lawyer with team management and carry a caseload of disrepair cases.
• Deputise for the Principal Lawyer as required.
• Handle complex housing litigation and advisory work, primarily disrepair and statutory nuisance matters.
• Provide legal advice to Council Members and Officers and contribute to policy proposals for committees.
• Manage Ombudsman cases.
• Introduce new procedures arising from legislation and drive efficiency improvements.

Required profile

• Qualified solicitor or barrister with a current practising certificate.
• Minimum of 5 years post‑qualification experience (PQE) in housing law and litigation.
• Ability to work full‑time on a hybrid basis (two days in‑office).
• Experience with disrepair claims and statutory nuisance cases; local authority experience is advantageous.
• Recent supervision or management experience is desirable but not mandatory.
