Senior IT Support Engineer (part time 3 days pw)

About the role

We are seeking a Senior IT Support Engineer to work three days a week on‑site across Liverpool and Merseyside, supporting primary schools, secondary schools, academies and higher education institutions. The role is part‑time, pro‑rated salary £30‑40k per annum, and requires independent problem‑solving on a range of technologies.

Key responsibilities

• Diagnose and resolve server failures including OS, hardware, RAID and virtualisation issues.
• Manage and troubleshoot Active Directory and Group Policy deployments.
• Provide cyber‑security incident response, endpoint protection, web filtering and maintain Cyber Essentials compliance.
• Administer Microsoft 365 suite and support Apple devices and Google Workspace.
• Configure and maintain networking components such as VLANs, managed switches, wireless access points, firewalls and routing.
• Deploy and manage MDM solutions (Mosyle, Jamf, Intune) across client sites.
• Deliver first‑line help‑desk support and liaise with headteachers and staff.

Required profile

• Minimum 4 years hands‑on experience in senior IT support or systems engineering within the education sector.
• Ability to work independently without supervision.
• Full UK driving licence and access to a personal vehicle.
• Strong communication skills to explain technical issues clearly to non‑technical stakeholders.
