Senior Lead Software Engineer - Python / Java

About the role

Join JPMorgan Chase's Quantitative Execution Strategies (QES) technology team in London as a Senior Lead Software Engineer. You will work in an agile environment to design, build, and deliver secure, stable, and scalable market‑leading technology products that support the firm’s trading strategies.

Key responsibilities

• Develop creative software solutions, design, and troubleshoot complex technical problems.
• Write secure, high‑quality production code in Java, Python and TypeScript (React) and review/debug code from peers.
• Identify and automate remediation of recurring issues to improve operational stability.
• Lead communities of practice across software engineering to promote new technologies.
• Act as a front‑office developer, collaborating closely with trading, structuring and quantitative research teams.
• Build platform and visualization components required by the desk.

Required profile

• Formal training or certification in software engineering concepts.
• Extensive hands‑on experience delivering system design, application development, testing and operational stability.
• Advanced proficiency in Python programming.
• Strong analytical and problem‑solving abilities.
• Proven experience leading an agile delivery team using Scrum, sprint planning and stakeholder reporting.
