Senior Legal Manager / Counsel (Fixed‑Term or Interim)

About the role

This senior in‑house position is based in the UK and operates in a regulated, tech‑driven environment. Reporting to Group Legal, you will lead the UK legal function, providing pragmatic advice while enjoying real autonomy and visibility across the business.

Key responsibilities

• Lead, mentor and develop a small UK‑based legal team and collaborate with Group Legal contacts.
• Own data‑protection matters, working with the Data Protection office on GDPR and UK DPA compliance, privacy risk and data incidents.
• Draft, review and negotiate a wide range of commercial contracts, including technology‑focused agreements such as software, cloud/hosting and strategic supplier contracts.
• Advise on UK regulatory issues including consumer law, intellectual property, competition and sanctions.
• Drive UK compliance activities covering anti‑bribery, modern slavery and corporate governance.
• Identify legal and regulatory risk and deliver clear, business‑friendly solutions.

Required profile

• Qualified Solicitor (England & Wales) or equivalent (CILEX considered).
• Significant in‑house legal experience in a commercial setting.
• Experience managing or mentoring legal professionals, or readiness to step into a people‑management role.
• Strong commercial contracting experience, preferably with technology/SaaS agreements.
• Deep knowledge of GDPR and UK data‑protection law, with confidence to act as DPO.
• Excellent stakeholder management and cross‑functional collaboration skills.
