Senior Operations Lead – Triage

About the role

Social Work England is seeking a Senior Operations Lead for its Triage function. The role will provide senior operational leadership during a period of transformation, ensuring continuity of service delivery and workforce effectiveness. It is a full‑time, fixed‑term position based in Sheffield with hybrid working.

Key responsibilities

• Lead day‑to‑day operational delivery of the Triage service while the Head of Triage drives strategic change.
• Strengthen and manage the existing Triage management structure, including Operational Managers and Leads.
• Develop management capability, address complex performance and capability issues, and embed consistent leadership practices.
• Ensure regulatory decisions are evidence‑based, legally robust and delivered to high quality standards.
• Support workforce planning, capability development and performance management across the function.

Required profile

• Significant senior operational leadership experience in a high‑volume regulatory, investigations or fitness‑to‑practice environment.
• Proven track record of improving team and organisational performance through coaching and performance management.
• Deep understanding of regulatory decision‑making, statutory processes and operational governance.
• Experience handling complex workforce issues such as capability and conduct.
