Senior Ornithologist – UK Wide, Flexible Locations

About the role

We are looking for a Senior Ornithologist to join Tetra Tech’s national ecology team. The role involves leading multi‑season bird surveys, providing expert advice, and delivering high‑quality ecological reports for a range of infrastructure and development projects across the UK.

Key responsibilities

• Design and lead winter, passage and breeding bird surveys in diverse habitats, including wind‑farm sites.
• Produce and critically review technical and planning‑stage ecological reports.
• Manage project budgets, schedules and client expectations, ensuring delivery to deadline.
• Support Habitat Regulations assessments and develop mitigation designs.
• Collaborate with planners, engineers and multidisciplinary teams to integrate ornithological input.
• Mentor junior ecologists and contribute to in‑house training programmes.

Required profile

• Relevant degree in ecology, biology or related field.
• Significant consultancy experience in ornithology, delivering multi‑season surveys.
• Membership of, or eligibility for, CIEEM.
• Full UK driving licence and legal right to work in the UK.
