Senior Planning Manager

About the role

We are seeking an experienced Senior Planning Manager to lead planning and monitoring on a major public‑sector defence project in Cirencester, Gloucestershire. You will act as the project conscience, providing strategic insight and reporting to senior leadership.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and maintain detailed project programmes using Primavera P6 and other planning tools.
• Coordinate the 4D BIM model with the BIM Coordinator and chair weekly planning meetings.
• Monitor progress, identify risks and implement mitigation strategies.
• Prepare accurate reports, forecasts and visual diagrams for senior management and stakeholders.
• Facilitate planning workshops and maintain strong communication with contractors, consultants and client representatives.
• Support and oversee junior planning staff and contribute to continuous improvement of planning systems.

Required profile

• Proven experience delivering construction projects valued at £30 million or more.
• Broad experience across multiple industry sectors and familiarity with various construction contracts.
• Strategic thinker with the ability to forecast long‑term programme risks.

Required skills

• Expert knowledge of construction methodology, building technology and pre‑construction processes.
• Strong understanding of primary construction contracts and commercial terms.
• Working knowledge of CPA planning techniques and project controls.
