Senior Platform Software Engineer (SRE)

About the role

We are looking for a Senior Platform Software Engineer to join Preply’s Site Reliability Engineering team in London. The role blends software development with cloud infrastructure, distributed‑system patterns and observability to keep the platform reliable and performant at global scale.

Key responsibilities

• Own availability and performance of mission‑critical services and build automation to prevent recurrence of problems.
• Improve scalability, observability and alerting of core platform components.
• Develop tooling that accelerates software development and supports safe, rapid deployments.
• Participate in on‑call rotations, practice sustainable incident response and conduct blameless post‑mortems.

Required profile

• ~8 years of experience designing, building and troubleshooting high‑traffic distributed systems.
• Hands‑on expertise with Agentic AI and ability to integrate AI as a thought partner in engineering workflows.
• Strong communication skills and minimum C1 level English.
• Willingness to take part in paid on‑call rotations.

• Python programming.
• Amazon Web Services (AWS) or equivalent public‑cloud services.
• Observability and alerting implementation.

• Storage systems.
• FinOps awareness.
