Senior Practice Accountant

About the role

We are supporting a fast‑growing accountancy and business advisory practice that provides trusted advice to SMEs across the UK. As a Senior Practice Accountant you will manage a varied client portfolio, deliver high‑quality accounting services and help develop junior team members.

Key responsibilities

• Manage a diverse portfolio of sole traders, partnerships and limited companies, ensuring work is accurate and delivered on time.
• Prepare and submit year‑end accounts and VAT returns.
• Produce accounts to review stage and lead year‑end meetings with clients.
• Act as the primary point of contact for clients, building and maintaining strong relationships.
• Mentor and support junior staff, contributing to their development.
• Identify and implement process improvements to increase team efficiency.
• Maintain high‑quality client files and ensure compliance with professional standards.

Required profile

• ACA, ACCA or AAT qualification (or part‑qualified/qualified by experience).
• Previous experience in an accountancy practice environment.
• Strong technical knowledge of statutory accounts preparation.
• Excellent communication, organisational and attention‑to‑detail skills.
• Proactive, self‑motivated and able to work both independently and collaboratively.
